Thinking of Snow. Inspiration for the New IndigoBlu Blog Challenge.

Hello Everyone, so how are your Christmas preparations going? Hopefully better than mine, as usual everything seems to be left to the last minute but at least I have a few more days to sort those things out.
Onto, today's blog post.
I would like to share a little piece of home decor with you which fits in with this months IndigoBlu Blog Challenge of Snow, Snow, Snow.
I wanted to create something with a winter feel and of course snow, but not to Chrismasy so came up with this!

To start off I painted the wooden heart with white GeeSoo Good then once dry painted it with the Blue Luscious Powder mixed with water then went over the top of that with the Teal Luscious powder, again mixed with water to form a paint.

Once the paint was dry, I stamped the image of the large snowflake onto the heart with Flitter Glu then brought out the images with Sheffield Steel Mega Flake. I also stamped out onto white card Holly leaves which were cut out and painted with the Green & Teal Luscious Powders which I mixed into Glossy Slap-it-on to give the leave a waxy look.

Red Gems were added to the wet paint for Holly Berries

Next I used the Robin Stamp, stamped onto white card then coloured in using watercolour pencils and Frosty Sky English Cottage Paint. This image was cut out without the apples and leaves.

For the look of lightly fallen snow I went around the leaves and the branch with some glue and added Unicorn Sparkles.

White Ribbon was added to the top of the heart and a sentiment was added as a final finishing touch.

I hope you have enjoyed taking a look at this project and it has inspired you to get your IndigoBlu stamps out and have a play. This challenge lasts through January so once Christmas has come and gone and you find you have a little more time on your hands I hope you join in the challenge.

Merry Christmas to you and have a Happy and Healthy 2017.

Glisten & Sparkle above and below the sea!

Hello Everyone, i'm back today with a inspiration piece for the IndigoBlu Blog Challenge called Glisten & Sparkle.
My first inspiration piece was a Christmas Card and i'm guessing that's what most people would think of doing so near to Christmas, but this time round I wanted to do something different.
Martin and I went traveling around New Zealand at the beginning of the year and one of the things I remember most was the times we spent by the sea and lakes and the way the sun shone on the water making it look as if there were diamonds floating on top and the way the sun shone through the water into the sea so I thought I would try and show this in my inspiration piece for Glisten and Sparkle.

As my idea was set around water I pulled out the IndigoBlu stamp set 'Under the Sea', and stamped the images onto Acetate with Black Stazon and painted them with most colours of my Luscious powders mixed with some slap it on. (This helps the colour adhere to a slick surface such as acetate).

With the frame im using I gave it a coat of Gee-Soo Good in white then when it was dry I painted the frame with Blue Luscious Powder and added Sheffield Steel Mega Flake in patches.

I used a sea-life mould with paper clay to make some embellishments to give the picture a more 3D feel.

Stamped images and die cuts were added to the background piece of card coloured with inks then that was overlaid with stamped and coloured images on acetate.
The acetate waves were highlighted with the SS Mega Flakes in three layers then small diamond gems were added.

The acetate layers were wrapped around the base card in a slight dome. Once all were attached I put this into the frame then added a sentiment at the top of the frame and added a little bottle with a message to the bottom of the frame along with more acetate images.

Many thanks for taking a look.

IndigoBlu November Blog Challenge - Glisten & Sparkle

Hello Everyone, I have to say at this moment in time im not a happy bunny. The blog post I put up this morning has disappeared, how is that possible??
When I checked it after lunch I could see 20 people had viewed it but now its gone :( !!??

Ok, so lets start again!

This months IndigoBlu Challenge is Glisten & Sparkle. Think of all those IndigoBlu Stamps you have sitting there that you can add Sparkle too. Come on, join the challenge, I dare you!!

My inspiration for this challenge came from the Beautiful stamp "Rebecca-Snow Queen", I love the way Snowflakes are drifting and slowly falling from her hair.
I also used the "Circle Dot Background Stamp"  with blue & purple Stazon Inks.
I felt that I needed something more that glisten's, so I added Royal Peacock Mega Flake using a small waffle stamp from the Stamp set "Limor Circles".

I stamped "Rebecca" with Midnight Blue Stazon Ink onto the IndigoBlu White Stamping Card so that when I painted in the details with Luscious Paints the image wouldn't bleed.

Once I had finished all the stamping and painting in details with several colours of Luscious paints, I thought about using something a little more interactive on the card that would add more sparkle so I decided to add an overlay of a plastic food bag filled with clear hair gel and some Unicorn Sparkles.

I then cut out a frame to put over the bag and painted this with a mixture of Blue Luscious powder mixed with a little water and glue, then sprinkled on some Unicorn Sparkles.
The card front was layered up on black card using double sided foam tape then stuck onto a white card base.

I then added some small snowflakes I made using more of the Mega Flakes on black card punched out of a border die I have and added small blue gem stones.

Now you can't really see how the gel bag works so I have added a quick video below just to show how it works.
I hope this card has inspired you to have a go at creating something yourself for this months IndigoBlu Blog Challenge. I look forward to seeing your project.
Happy Stamping xx

IndigoBlu Inspiration reminder piece - Monochrome

Hello Everyone,
I'm back today with a reminder post for the IndigoBlu Blog Challenge.
This month we are challenging you to put together a project in a Monochrome fashion. Use just one colour in varying shades.
Now i'm not a pink person and those of you who know me, will know I adore oranges and greens so I am completely out of my comfort zone with Pink, but thats good, it challenges me.
I decided to use the Mulberry Bush English Cottage Artist Acrylic Paint for this card. I really like that it is a translucent paint and you can water it down to get different shades of the colour.

So to begin with I painted the bottom  1/4"of a piece of white card with just neat paint then added more water to my brush and worked what paint I had left in the brush up to the top of the card until I got that ombre look.
I then added rock salt to the wet paint to get a mottled look. If you look closely the salt has absorbed some of the colour and created little crazed patches.

Next thing was to ink up the Dinkie Flutterby stamp in Black Stazon ink three times onto white card and then paint over each image with different amounts of the paint and water.

How cool is that! One pot of paint so many shades when water is added!
Once dry, the images were cut out and mounted onto black card. The middle image was mounted onto a slightly larger piece of card and attached to the painted background with foam tape to give it more dimension.

I then went around the edge of the ombre card with black it to frame it.
White Bakers Twin was coloured with the Mulberry Bush paint and mounted on a thin strip of black card and placed between the top two images.

This was a fairly quick card to put together. What took time was waiting for the Ombre & salt to dry out but I think it was worth the wait.

I hope you like the card and you have a go at the challenge yourself.
Good Luck

IndigoBlu October Blog Challenge- Monochrome

Hello Everyone, are you ready to challenge your crafting skills, need a little inspiration?
Today is the start of a Brand New Challenge over at IndigoBlu - Monochrome!

I knew what monochrome was but wanted to find out the correct definition so googled it and this is what came up!
Monochrome:- A photograph or picture developed or executed in black and white or in varying tones of only one colour.
So for this post I decided I would use Black & White, only because I don't normally craft in these colours and wanted to challenge myself. For the reminder post of this challenge later in the month I will  be using a colour.

So here are a couple of cards I made, hopefully inspire you to have a go yourself!
What do you think?.......................................

So if you would like to have a go yourself here is a quick tutorial for you.
1. Cut six card panels (3 white/3 black) 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" and round off each of the corner. Paint the 3 white panels with white GeeSoo good, and the black panels with black GeeSoo good. I wanted to give the panels a matte look.

2. Once the panels are dry, stamp the images using White GeeSoo Good onto the black panels and Black Versafine Ink on the white panels.
(when using Gee-Soo good to stamp with, spread some onto a piece of phat foam until it has been worked into the foam and use it like an inkpad).

3. To add detail to the now dry images I used Black and White Enamel Effects and some white and black thin ribbon on 2 of the panels. I also stamped out a white and black butterfly for a little 3D effect on the lilac.

4.The white panels were then mounted onto black card and the black panels onto white card. They were then mounted onto a white card blank.

And there you have it, two Monochrome cards. I will add a sentiment when I need a card in a hurry. Its always a good idea to have a few cards spare just in case!

Thanks for checking in today. Catch up with you again soon. xx
